The San Fernando Valley businessman nominated for L.A.'s Board of Water and Power Commissioners makes his first appearance before a City Council committee this week.
Richard Moss runs a commercial real estate development company in Encino. When Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa nominated him to join the board that oversees the Department of Water and Power, he pointed to Moss’s day-to-day work with real estate law and financial plans as the right kind of experience. Moss also chairs ValPAC, the political action committee for San Fernando Valley business issues.
Water and Power commissioners in L.A. weigh in on key decisions about energy development, transmission and sources that will affect energy bills. They’ll also look at water rates and water rationing as California and Los Angeles continue to cut back on use, particularly outdoor watering.
