Korbel continues trash cleanup along river

Workers using an excavator were cleaning up an old dump site at Korbel Champagne Cellars vineyards, where erosion from the Russian River has been spreading trash downstream.
Korbel a week ago had employed members of the Russian Riverkeeper environmental group to clean up the river from boats near the dump, which is just downstream from Oddfellows Park.
High water from storms in late December has caused erosion and moved bottles, plastic sheeting and other trash downstream as far as Guerneville.
It also exposed metal in the bank, which Korbel vice president Bill Owens said was what workers were using an excavator to remove this week.
