Speak Out for Clean California Waterways
Forty years after the first Earth Day, California’s State Water Board released unprecedented interactive maps that closely track CCKA’s impaired waters mapping initiative. The maps illustrate the severity of water pollution in California as measured by its "303(d) list" of severely impaired waterways. The 303(d) list is named after the section in the Clean Water Act requiring the list and associated cleanup plans for listed waterways. At its August 4th adoption hearing, the State Water Board finally adopted its 2008/2010 list of impaired waters; the final list will be posted shortly.
The State Water Board accepted new data to support updates for the 2012 303(d) list of severely polluted waterways through the end of August. Thanks to all who submitted letters and evidence in support of identifying and restoring California's impaired waterways. Read the joint comments submitted by CCKA and dozens of other groups fighting for clean waterways with abundant flows.
